The Spotted Barb Fish or its scientific name Puntius binotatus can be found throughout the peninsula, especially on the west coast of Malaysia. It likes to inhabit slow-flowing creeks. It can be found in the tributaries near the hills. This fish is almost extinct because its habitat is nearly destroyed. It lives in small school of fish between 10 to 15. This fish has no commercial value because it is small in size and has a lot of bones. The preservation of habitats especially river ecosystems from the threat of pollution and destruction of fish habitats is of great concern. We need to ensure the survival of this species so that it is not threatened and lost as our biodiversity heritage.
